"Now this is the story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down-"
oops, dated myself a bit there.
This is one family's account of top to bottom renovations on a Midwestern Cape Cod style home. In a nutshell, we built this home for mom so she could be next door. It was perfect, the kids could see grandma every day and we were near for anything she might need. The last year was not so kind as her health steadily declined. Gone from our lives but very present in our hearts, we were left with a big question... what to do with the home we'd built for her?
The family consensus was to move there ourselves as the layout seemed to be the best fit for our family with our daughters approaching their teen years. After years of updating our current home and completely fixing up our starter home before that, we're confident in our ability to do all the projects that need to be done ourselves. Which is good, because we're working on a really tight budget, just like we were when we built the house.
While we make necessary repairs in the evenings and on weekends, we are trying to sell our current home and keep it show-ready (read: spotless) while also balancing family life. Join us as we move forward one project at a time.
